Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)

The Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) strategy of tribal development is a concept intended to address the issues of backwardness in tribal areas and tribal population in an integrated way. The aim is to minimize the gap between the livelihood of tribal people and general communities.

ICAR-CCRI organised a training program in Naxal-prone areas of Gadchiroli

One day training on “Citrus Production technology” and Agri-input and Acid lime sapling distribution programme was organized under the guidance of Dr Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur for tribal and SC farmers of Bhamragad Tahsil, Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, Naxalite infested location, under TSP and SCSP Scheme on 21st Feb. 2023. The program aimed to promote citrus production in non-traditional areas and extend the benefits of Tribal and Scheduled caste sub-plan programme of Government of India, in the poorest of poor areas.

This training program was organized in collaboration with KVK-Gadchiroli and the local Police department. Dr. R.K Sonkar, Principal Scientist, Dr. D. T. Meshram Principal Scientist, Dr. Naresh M.Meshram Sr. Scientist and Dr. Sandip Karhale, Head KVK Gadchiroli, and Shri. Nilotptal, Superintendent of Police Gadchiroli, Shri Kumar Chinta, and Additional S. P. Gadchiroli were present in this program. A total of more than 300 farmers participated in the training program. Dr. R. K. Sonkar, Coordinator and nodal officer of the SCSP Scheme, and Dr. Naresh M.Meshram, Coordinator and nodal officer of TSP Scheme, highlighted the importance of program conducted under these schemes and gave an outline of the overall program.

Dr. R K Sonkar highlighted the importance of involving Acid lime plants in this regard for better income briefed the farmers about modern practices in horticulture and assured them of all help and technical guidance from the institute. Dr. D.T. Meshram made farmers acquainted with water management practices for good production. Finally, 6000 acid lime sampling and agri-inputs were distributed among the 300 beneficiaries. The farmers also asked many questions about citrus production. The local tribal and SC farmers participated with zeal and were highly satisfied with the training program. A vote of thanks was proposed by the head of the police station, Bhamragad.

Total 21 training conducted (since 2015-16) under TSP scheme in which 2297 tribal farmers benefitted.
