Dr. Subhra Saikat Roy

Principal Scientist (Horticulture)

Dr. Subhra Saikat Roy joined the Agricultural Research Service in 2008. and is presently working as Principal Scientist (Horticulture – Fruit Science) at ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, Maharashtra. His major research interests include phytochemical profiling, bioprospecting, valorization, post-harvest technology, and value addition of citrus. Dr. Roy joined the Agricultural Research Service in 2008. He earned his Doctoral Degree in Horticulture from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal, possessing an excellent academic career, receiving the University Gold Medal (UG) and Certificate of Merit (PG). With over 16 years of research experience in horticulture, he served ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region from 2008 to 2022 and is currently working at ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur. From his role as Principal Investigator in twelve projects, Co-Investigator in twenty-one projects and Supervisor in five post-doctoral fellowship projects, Dr. Roy has developed many technologies, including seven crop varieties, five IFS models, five organic POPs, more than ten value-added products, commercialized eight technologies, and filed one patent. Additionally, he has incubated over 30 agripreneurships. Dr. Roy has published more than 50 research papers in the journals of national and international repute, 15 books, 45 book chapters, 21 success stories, 1 technology inventory, 1 database, 25 bulletins and manuals, over 100 popular articles, 1 mobile app and 27 Genbankaccesseions. Dr. Roy has organized one National Seminar (2016) and one International Conference (2023) as Convenor, Asian Citrus Congress – 2023 as Organizing Secretary and more than five National Seminars as Co-organizing Secretary/Co-Convenor. He is also the Editor of a peer-reviewed journal, a Fellow of three professional societies, and a recipient of many prestigious awards, includingFakhruddin Ali Ahmed Award conferred by ICAR, New Delhi in 2018 and National Entrepreneurship Award (Ecosystem Builder Track – Mentor) conferred by the Ministry Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India in 2019.Dr. Roy was also a visiting scholar at Michigan State University, USA.
