Dr. Darshan M. Kadam

Dr. Darshan Manikrao Kadam earned his B.Sc (Horticulture) degree in 2011 from the College of Horticulture, Akola, achieving an outstanding CGPA of 8.88 out of 10. He was honored with the University gold medal for attaining the highest CGPA in the B.Sc Horticulture program. Following this achievement, he distinguished himself by securing the third position nationwide in the ICAR-JRF examination, thereby earning a fellowship to pursue his master’s degree from the Division of Fruit Science at IARI. He successfully completed his M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, specializing in Horticulture-Fruit Science in 2013 and 2022 respectively.

During his doctoral studies, Dr. Kadam conducted research on "Abiotic stress tolerance studies on citrus rootstock hybrids." His dedication and contributions have been recognized and he embarked on his career in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, commencing on January 1, 2015. Following the completion of his foundational training, he assumed the role of Scientist on April 10, 2015, at ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun. Here, he undertook significant endeavors in the development of fruit-based alternate land use systems for degraded lands, research on soil and water conservation techniques for fruit orchards, and the integration of horticultural components in watershed management strategies.

Dr. Kadam also served at the IISWC Regional Centre in Datia from December 2021 to December 2023, where he contributed to projects focused on bamboo-based biofence development, the study of mulching's impact on soil and water conservation and root architecture of vegetable crops. Demonstrating his commitment to advancing agricultural science, he transitioned to ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur, on December 26, 2023. Wherein he will work on Citrus improvement through hybridization and drought stress screening of citrus rootstock germplasms.

Throughout his academic and professional journey he has published 15 research papers in high impact journals, 6 book chapters, 1 book, 22 popular articles, 1 technical bulletin and developed several technologies in his field.
